9 Temporary 9 hours ago Full Job Description General Description Consultants will provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities enrolled in summer session in the core academic areas of reading, writing, and mathematics.
A continuum of services, including collaborative instruction, small group instruction, and individual instruction, may be provided depending on the individual needs of the students.
Consultants will implement Extended School Year plans for students who met the criteria for ESY enrolled at their site.
Consultants are expected to provide direct instruction to students, which may include multisensory instruction and guided reading.
Essential Job Functions Provide a continuum of services in reading and math to meet individual student needs.
Participate in planning and implementing instruction with general education teachers.
Provide information from IEPs to general education teachers regarding students' accommodations.
Implement Extended School Year Plans and document student progress on goals.
Assist the summer school principal in coordinating special education support.
Complete and file summer school progress reports and ESY plans for students with disabilities.
Provide consultative support to teachers regarding specialized instruction.
Qualifications Working knowledge of the concepts, principles and methodologies of instruction, learning theory and teaching methodologies for special education students.
Demonstrated independent decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution and effective oral and written communication.

Requirements Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in a special education content area.
Master's degree in special education or an endorsement in Administration and Supervision is preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
